Samsung has announced that it would be adding more functionality related to smart homes to devices in the Galaxy Watch lineup. On their smartwatches, users will be able to access live feeds from their home Ring and Nest cameras, including their doorbell cameras.
Ring owners can also utilise the two-way intercom capability on their Galaxy Watch to communicate with other Ring users. In the beginning of 2021, Samsung was the first company to integrate Nest into the SmartThings ecosystem.
In the near future, users will also be able to operate a wider variety of devices, such as smart air purifiers, thermostats, and blinds, from the wrist of their connected watch. This expands upon the existing Galaxy Watch functionality for a variety of devices including televisions, air conditioners, lighting, and more.
According to Samsung, customers will be able to operate their smart home devices without having to launch the SmartThings app. They can access those functions by swiping right from the watch face. The firm has not disclosed exactly when the update will be made accessible, but on February 1st, during the Unpacked event, we may obtain additional information.
