Doodle4Google is a contest that encourages students to use their creativity and artistic talent to design an inspirational Google logo for a special event. The top five finalists (1 from each group) will have their designs displayed on the Google homepage on May 18th, and the winner will receive a $30,000 scholarship.

Well on this platform, students are encouraged to create artwork that showcases their ideas about the future and the past. If you’re a student who wants to enter the contest, here are some tips to help you get started!
Doodle4Google Theme for 2022
This year’s Doodle for Google contest is all about self-care. Self-care is a perfect fit for the 14th edition of our year-long Doodle for Google student contest. Hence this year’s the theme for the contest in 2022 is “I take care of myself by …”.
We’re inviting students to share the ways they take care of themselves during challenging times.
- What can they do to get better and feel more comfortable when they’re experiencing low moods?
- How can they take time out?
- What kinds of activities help them feel relaxed or boost their energy levels?
- What or whom bring them joy?
This year’s theme asks students to talk about how they care for their bodies, minds and souls as they confront the challenges and opportunities that each new day presents.
I was once the kind of person who was proud of taking advantage of my time to be active. I loved crossing off items from my list of things to do I loved saying “yes” to everything, and making my week full of social plans.
I was happy with my work and living a hectic lifestyle. But the spread of the disease and the change to more modern methods of living and working forced me to examine my mental outlook. I needed to be more deliberate in rethinking the way I organized my day and incorporate the time to reflect, take meditation and care.
The change in my life isn’t unique to me. The last few years have been characterized by uncertainty, and children particularly have been significantly affected by the way they learn, socialize, and take care of health.
Doodle4Google Judges for 2022
It’s time to meet the judges. The judges for this year’s contest are enthusiastic about wellness and self-care. The panel will assist us to select our 54 state and territorial winners as well as our five national finalist. One of them will become the grand prize winner of the national competition.
Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez is a Grammy-nominated artist, entrepreneur, and an philanthropist. One of her passions is to start conversations on mental health. In 2019 she established her own charity, the Rare Impact Fund and pledged the fund to collect $100 million to fund mental health services for people living in communities that are not well-served.
“Art is something that has always been an the most essential aspect to my existence,” the artist says. “I am thrilled to be part of the judges’ panel for this year’s edition of the Doodle for Google contest as the theme is ‘I take care for myself this is a subject which is close to my heart.
As a long-time advocate of mental health awareness, the notion that self-care has become an integral part of our everyday conversation is something that makes me hopeful for the future.”
Elyse Fox
Another judge in our panel, Elyse Fox, is a model, director and mental health advocate. She founded Sad Girls Club which is a non-profit organization dedicated to removing stigmas from mental health for millennials and Gen Z women, girls and women of color and she’s a part of the Rare Beauty Mental Health Council.
“This year’s theme, ‘I take will take care of myself” ‘I care for myself by” is an essential call to be asking ourselves, particularly in this day and age,” she says. “I like the theme because some people might think that taking care of yourself is selfish however, in reality it is essential to make it a priority to become the best version of who we’d like to be.”
Juliana Urtubey
The final jury member for Doodle4Google 2022 is, Juliana Urtubey. She is the 2021 National Teacher of the Year and currently co-teacher for special education in Kermit Booker elementary school situated in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has been fighting for a just and joyful education for all students, and wellbeing that is based on community is at the heart of her vision.
“One way that I take care of myself is through self-reflection as well as being involved in my community,” she says. “Knowing your own self and knowing how and why you experience certain emotions is affected by the place you’re from and to me, my shared community helps me stay in a steady and balanced state.
I train my students on how to recognize and manage their emotions. Since their interactions and relationships with their family, friends, and other members of the community can affect their health and well-being we discuss our emotions in a group context.”
Doodle4Google Get started – How it Works?
In 2022, the Doodle for Google contest is open to all students in Guam, the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands until March 4.

The winner will be able to see their work displayed on Google’s Google homepage for one day, will receive an $30,000 college scholarship, and the winning school will receive a $50,000 tech grant. We’re eager to see what the students come up with.
How to enter in Doodle4Google Contest?
We’re eager to see amazing Doodles in the coming year! Students can use any materials they like, but all Doodles should be submitted via an entry form which have given below.
Teachers and parents can send us the entry form they have completed or upload it online as an .png or .jpg. The contest is open to entries through the 4th of March, 2022 at, 11:59 p.m. PST. So, here’s a few tips to help you start:
- Download or print the entry form.
- Doodle: Artists create their Doodles using any materials they want. From crayons to clay to found objects.
- Write Artist’s statement – Tell us about what you have drawn and how it represents how you care for yourself. And also Fill out the rest of the required information and have a parent or guardian sign the entry form.
- Submit Enter the contest online (recommended) or by mail (see step 3 on the entry form for details).
- Entry form Doodles: If the Doodle is created directly on our entry form, you can either upload them to our site as a .jpg or doodle png (visit the enter tab) or mail them in (address listed on the enter tab).
- Other Doodles: If the Doodle wasn’t created directly on our entry form, take a high-resolution digital photo via iphone or android phone or you can even take the scan of the Doodle in good lighting and combine it with the entry form.
Judging Criteria for Doodle4Google
Great doodle contest has some criteria. It will be judged on the following parameters. So please check these things before participating in doodle4google contest.
- Artistic merit: Based on artistic skill
- Creativity: Representation of the contest theme, use of the letters in the Google logo, doodle letters, and the unique approach to the Doodle
- Theme communication: How well the contest theme is expressed in both the artwork and the written statement
Doodles will be grouped and judged by the following 5 grade groups:
- Grades K-3
- Grades 4-5
- Grades 6-7
- Grades 8-9
- Grades 10-12
Finalists will be judged on a state-by-state basis as described below.
- State and Territory Winners: 10 or more winners for each grade group, 54 in total
- National Finalists: 1 finalist for each grade group, 5 in total
- National Winner: Featured on Google.com
Doodle4Google Competition Levels
Fifty-Four State and Territory Winners
The Guest Judges and Google Doodlers will select the best Doodle from each of the 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands as the State and Territory winners. These 54 State and Territory Winners will be displayed in an online gallery on the Doodle for Google website.
Five National Finalists
For a period of 5 days, the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will vote for their favorite Doodle from the 54 State and Territory Winners. These votes will help determine the National Finalists.
One National Winner
A panel of Google employees will choose one of the five National Finalists and announce the National Winner in June.

Doodle4Google Disqualifications
- Doodles that are not original works, contain logos, or copyrighted imagery will be disqualified.
- Only one application per student. Only the first Doodle entered for each student will be considered, and any additional Doodles will be disqualified.

The artwork of the One National Winner will be featured on Google.com for a entire day (24 24 hours). They will also be awarded:

Four National Finalists who don’t win the title of National Winner, will have their Doodles included in Google’s Doodle for Google gallery. Every National Finalist will receive:

The State Winner and the Territory Winner
The 54 state as well as Territory winners will see their Doodles displayed at the Doodle for Google gallery. They will also be awarded:

What is the Doodle4Google contest?
Doodle for Google is an annual art contest that is open to students in the grades of K-12. Students are asked to create the perfect Google Doodle for the chance to see it on Google.com and receive technology packages and scholarships for their schools.
What’s the reason Google hosting this competition?
Doodles are meant to be awe-inspiring and enthralling experience for people whenever they go to Google.com. The past Doodles have honored many of the world’s most creative and talented people in history. They are the Doodle to Google contest gives students in grades in grades K-12 the opportunity to show their personal Doodle creative flair on Google.com and also win amazing prizes in the process!
What’s the time span Google been running this contest for?

Who is permitted to submit art work?
Parents, teachers, non-profit organizations and after-school programs are permitted to submit artwork on behalf of children K-12. Teachers and after-school programs create Doodles for their pupils, they must fill out an entry form that is required to be signed by each child’s parental or guardian. Teachers are able to enter multiple Doodles simultaneously but they can only enter the initial Doodle for each student. Whatever the way to enter the $50,000 technology prize will be given to the school that won the prize.
Students who participate in the competition are required to be enrolled in an U.S. based school (including homeschooling) or attend a school that is located in Puerto Rico, Guam, or Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Students of military personnel overseas are eligible to participate in this year’s contest, and will be judged using applications from their state of residence.
Do teachers and non-profit leaders submit artwork for their classes?
Teachers, non-profit leaders as well as after-school programs are allowed to submit Doodles for their students in grades K-12 in the event that you have signed the application form with the parent or guardian of the student.
Do you have any limit on the number of Doodles schools, non-profit or after-school program or a parent may participate in?

The National Winner may then donate $45,000 in value towards the establishment/improvement of a computer lab or a technology program for a public library or public school in their community that meets Google’s criteria for awards.
What happens when two Doodles were submitted by students of the same school?
We can only accept one Doodle per student. The judging system will ensure that each Doodle submitted is an original entry. In the event that we have two entries by the same person, we will choose the Doodle which was first received. Other entries submitted by that same child will be rejected. We request that all parents contact the school of their child prior to entering to ensure that there are no duplicate efforts.
Do you allow Group entries in Doodle4Google contest?
We do not accept Doodles which were made with more than one pupil. Each Doodle must be designed by a single student.
Do participants have the requirement to possess U.S. citizens to participate?
Yes, at the moment of participating in the Doodle students must be an U.S. citizen or a permanent U.S. legal resident (e.g. the student must be able show the proof of their legal permanent residency, such as an “green card”) and be registered in the U.S. based school or one located that is located in Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands and reside at home in U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Students of military personnel overseas can participate at this year’s competition.
What materials are used in this Doodle?
This is the fourth year in which students can make an Doodle by using any type of medium, or material. But, it is essential to be aware that Doodles are scrutinized and scanned using the 2-dimensional (2D) form. If your students make a three-dimensional (3D) Doodle, please ensure you capture a clear image and then enter the photo instead of the original. The original 2D scannable Doodles created using materials like pencils, paint markers, crayons pastels, chalk or cray-pas or an 2D collage are accepted. Computer-generated images are also accepted. Do Doodles need to be drawn straight on entry forms?
No. If you’re in a position to take an uncluttered photo of your Doodle and incorporate it into the entry form that you have completed, teachers and parents can submit the form with a Doodle that they have created on any medium. Teachers, parents, or non-profit leaders can mix the Doodle with the entry form by printing hard copies, or through digitally editing the image and submission form in conjunction. Can I participate in this contest on the internet?
Yes. Parents, non-profit leaders as well as teachers can enter 2D or 3D Doodles on the internet. Visit the How it works page for the full instructions and Enter on the entry page to upload your Doodle using the online submission form.
Do I have to tape the Doodle onto an entry sheet?

Does the public get participating in the vote?
Yes. When the time for entries has completed after our judges narrowed down the field to the 54 most popular Doodles The public will be invited vote on the internet. The public will be asked to choose their top Doodles that they like, one from each grade. Spread the love about your most loved Doodles and share them to your family and friends.
